Indianapolis International Film Festival 2009

Friday, 9pm. CAMDEN, a quiet yet discerning young man is driving a black Maserati Quadroportte down a North London road. He tries to ignore his cousin, BEANO, a brusque, borderline sociopath attempting to snort cocaine off the dashboard. Beano momentarily zones out; reflecting on a violent memory before exciting an argument with Camden over his girlfriend's promiscuous nature. The heated argument soon cools before Beano's attention is stolen by a street gang sat across the road. Beano demands Camden stop the car. Camden dithers, reluctant not to get involved before tentatively pulling over.Beano approaches the gang fast; Camden trailing a few paces behind -- the gang now aware of the boys swaggering towards them. An argument quickly descends between Beano and the gang, ending with Beano stabbing the gang leader with a knife. Camden goes into shock, frozen with horror; Beano yet again regressing over the past.Camden and Beano are back in the car, arguing. Camden can't believe what just happened albeit his anger begins to dissipate - a foreboding concern creeping around his spine on just how much of Beano's twisted past has influenced the present.
